"I know anything like that comes across as aggressive," magistrate Richard Funston told Steven Graeme Sutherland.
The 45-year-old has told Albury Local Court that he had bipolar disorder, though was "not always" using his prescribed medication.
"I get the feeling that if you were on your medication you wouldn't be in court today," Mr Funston said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Sutherland, of East Street, pleaded guilty to two counts of contravening an intervention order over messages he sent to the other's man Facebook account on the evening of April 21.
"Don't think u n (the ex-partner) can stop me, not anyone, from seeing my kids. I know what you two are saying to my kids, watch your backs ... I know where you work," one of the messages read.
Mr Funston had to ask Sutherland, who defended himself, to "calm down".
While Sutherland initially denied he was behaving in such a way, he then conceded he needed to acknowledge he wasn't properly addressing his underlying health issues.
"The problem is, Mr Sutherland," Mr Funston said, "you've got 17 pages of criminal history. If you come back before me I'm going to lock you up."
Sutherland was placed on a six-month community corrections order with a condition that he "take medication as prescribed".
