AFL North East Border met with the region's leagues this week, but the decision on Friday to kick-start the elite standard means it's still a holding pattern for the levels below, due to the coronavirus delay.
"We're still waiting for AFL Victoria to pass on to AFLNEB protocols around training and we're hoping to hear that in the next few days," O and M chairman David Sinclair said.
The clubs were informed, if the season does go ahead, there will be extremely strict health protocols imposed, as the NRL has been following since it returned 10 days ago.
