Students and teachers from Nadeen International School at Bahrain felt compelled to act as the world watched the devastating bushfires unfold across Australia at the start of 2020.

They rallied together and raised more than $2000 for the Border Trust Bushfire Fund, which delighted its chair Grace Churches.

"Some of the children at the school became concerned about the bushfires and how devastating it was to the people and animals," she said.

"A teacher said they decided to donate to Border Trust as they liked how our fundraiser donated 100 per cent to the people in the community."

Ms Churches said she was thrilled with the $110,000 collected for the bushfire fund, which would be distributed directly back to local communities through a grants program.

A "Pitch Page" is available for community groups to share a little about their project before starting a full application.

May is the organisation's major fundraising drive where the local community is encouraged to give back; at the end of the month the Big Give sees all the grants for 2020 distributed.
