Employed as a fitness coach with Melbourne, Cross alongside development assistant Max Rooke have been stood down by the Demons.
All AFL clubs have been forced to make tough calls on coaching staff with the league capping the maximum number of coaching staff to 25.

Cross, a former Dogs best and fairest winner, was a member of the Demons' fitness staff under performance manager Darren Burgess.
He had been with the Demons in an off-field role since his retirement at the end of 2015, including acting as the club's runner on match-day for a period.
Cross has played for Albury for the past four seasons when available and was part of the Tigers' 2016 and 2018 flag triumphs.
Nigel Lappin and Jason Lappin, Steve Johnson and Brett Kirk will continue in their respective coaching roles this season.
