Focused on flexible learning the St John's Lutheran School masterplan will completely revamp the existing classrooms and play spaces.

And principal Brad Moss said the three stage plan is "all about the students".

"We don't want to get any bigger, we just want to be the best school we can be for our students," he said.

"This is a really exciting project for our school and our students are already seeing upgrades happen with stage one underway now.

"Every decision we make at St John's is to benefit our students.

"We have 186 students and are basically at capacity but our goal is to continue to do what we are doing and do it extremely well.

"We are committed to staying a single stream school and focus on that connected learning, knowing each child."

Stage one of works include new student bathrooms, full exterior paint, a new entrance fence and car park drop off area.

Stage two and three include the complete refurbishment of the existing classrooms and turning the library into a "learning hub".

"A lot of the buildings are about 15 years old so this is about opening up those glass doors and having outdoor learning environments connected to the indoors," Mr Moss said.

"There will be solar panels, veggie patches, and all of this sort of sustainability practices.

"The library will be turned into a learning hub so there will be integrated learning in that space.

"For stage two and three we are hoping to get some state funding - if it comes through that will enable us to complete both of those stages, but if it doesn't we are lucky enough to be in a position where we can still complete stage two straight away.

"And then the third stage will be in the near future."

The draft architectural plans include a timber boardwalk connecting all classrooms, outdoor learning areas connecting to the indoor classrooms, separate creative spaces in each classroom and new furniture in each space.

There are also plans for water tanks, stadium style seating and new landscaping.

"Our community is really excited for this project," Mr Moss said.

The works coincide with a complete "rebranding" of the school image with a new marketing campaign as well as a new website.

"We really want to involve the students and parents in everything we do and that is what our new website is all about," Mr Moss said.

The masterplan is expected to be completed by the 2021 school year.
