Pig the 4-month-old French Bulldog puppy came into the lives of Wagga's Driscoll family early this year, owned by their son.
"It was our son's dog, he'd only just bought it, but he committed suicide on April 1 so we've taken her in," Dad Phil Driscoll said.
Mr Driscoll said they were under the impression their son's ex-girlfriend had stolen Pig from their home in Kooringal and is keeping it in Leeton.
"The police are aware and they have been around to the property in Leeton but it's been difficult to get her out," he said.
"I think the Leeton police are getting a bit frustrated, and we are too, it just keeps dragging on."
In other news:
Pig was more than just a puppy to the family.
"She is definitely special, she means a lot to us and my wife is especially upset," he said.
"We just want her back, and we are even offering a reward of $1000 if she is returned to us safely."
If anyone has any information regarding the puppy, they are urged to contact Leeton Police Station, or get in touch with the Driscoll family.
