The men's team met on Thursday night for the first time under new eased COVID-19 restrictions.
Hockey Albury-Wodonga sport operations manager Cayte Campbell admitted while the team still had some hurdles to jump, a return to the pitch for training was a step in the right direction.
Clubs within the association will also have the opportunity to train in the coming weeks, with Albury based teams the first cabs off the rank.

Albury council gave the green light for training to commence as of this weekend, meaning Norths, Falcons, Magpies and Wombats could see a return.
Campbell said players would have to go through their clubs.
Further updates for teams based in Wodonga, Wangaratta and Corowa are expected in the coming week.
"Some clubs are going back on the pitch next week, while others are going to wait for a competition start date before they go back on the pitch for training," Campbell said.
"There will be an opportunity there for all of them."
Clubs will have to follow strict protocols for training sessions, including social distancing measures.
Players are also expected to arrive in their full gear to eliminate the need for using change room facilities.
It's still unclear as to when the Hockey Albury-Wodonga season will get under way.
