Zac Cheep broke down in the Wodonga Magistrates Court this week after being urged to get his life back on track for his son.
Magistrate Ian Watkins said the boy had already been exposed to too much and that Cheep needed to be ice-free.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Cheep pleaded guilty to property damage, making threats to kill and inflict serious injury, failing to answer bail, stalking and breaching family violence orders.
The Wodonga man was on a corrections order, which he breached through non-compliance and further offending, for which he received a six-month minimum, 12-month maximum jail term earlier this year.
Mr Watkins imposed a three-month term, and said it would be up to the parole board when he is released.
