It is generally agreed that the National Cabinet is doing an excellent job in running the country during the COVID 19 pandemic.

This cabinet is made up of four Coalition governments, namely the Commonwealth government, Tasmanian, South Australia and New South Wales governments and the four Labor governments, which are Queensland, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory governments.

IN OTHER NEWS:

There are no independents, including Helen Haines, in the National Cabinet as they are irrelevant.

The irrelevancy of independents should be remembered in the next federal and state elections.

Thank you to Lesley Frede (The Border Mail, May 21) for asking where I got my information on the COVID Commission.

I was initially alerted by MP Zali Steggal, who's expressed her concerns about the commission via various media outlets.

I also point to a media release in which the Centre for Public Integrity, Grata Fund, Transparency International, Public Interest Advocacy Centre, Amnesty International, Human Rights Law Centre and The Australia Institute called on the prime minister to "establish greater transparency and integrity measures for the opaque and unaccountable National Covid Coordination Commission".

I agree with Lesley that members of the commission are respected and qualified business members, but stand by my assertion that seven of the 15 have links to the fossil fuel sector.

May 22 was 65 Roses Day, which acknowledges the challenges faced by those living with cystic fibrosis (CF) and also to raise awareness of CF in the community.

CF is the most common life shortening genetic disease in Australia. Every four days a baby is born with CF. It affects mostly the lungs and the digestion of those that suffer from it. You can obtain more information about CF from info@CFCC.org.au.

There are new treatments that can increase life expectancy but there is still no cure.

On May 22, Cystic Fibrosis Community Care recruited many great landmarks across Victoria to light-up red to "shine a light for cystic fibrosis".

We, as locals, were ever so grateful that Albury Council came on board and showed its support for families living with cystic fibrosis by lighting the Albury Entertainment Centre and MAMA red.
