The actions of a woman caught drink driving at more than six times the legal limit in Mt Beauty are unacceptable, according to police.

The 49-year-old woman, one of two drink drivers caught in the town on Sunday, returned a reading of 0.317 after being stopped on Lakeside Avenue about 4.15pm.
The Tawonga South woman lost her licence for a year and will face court, where it's likely she will be further suspended.

A man returned a reading of .097 a few hours later.
"To have two drivers caught drink driving over the legal limit in the one day is very disappointing," Sergeant Brad Dickens said.
"We might be a small country town but that doesn't mean you won't get caught.
"To be six times over the limit is not just one or two drinks.
"To get behind the wheel of a car in that state is unacceptable.
"It places the lives of all road users at risk, including kids on bikes and elderly pedestrians."
