Wodonga is home to the third highest number of hunters in the state, with statistics recently released by the Game Management Australia showing there were 684 game licence holders in mid-2019.
Wodonga ranks behind only Traralgon and Bairnsdale in Victoria, with deer the most commonly targeted statewide, followed by duck.
Hunting numbers have been increasing in Wodonga.

A further 361 licence holders were recorded in Baranduda with large numbers in surrounding towns.
Deer shooting is predominantly undertaken by men, who make up 96 per cent of the 41,415 people licenced to shoot the pests.
Alpine and surrounding areas are unsurprisingly home to high numbers of hunters, with 198 at Myrtleford, 110 in Beechworth, 58 in Bright and 45 at Porepunkah.
Police regularly patrol Alpine areas to ensure compliance with the law and target rogue hunters.
