Cresswell believes recruit Jamason Daniels is the man to lead the Hawks when he steps down.
Daniels, the former Western Bulldogs player, coached Tatura and also served as a development coach with the Gold Coast Suns.
"He is going to be a super coach," Cresswell said.
"He's very similar to me in terms of how passionate he is about the game.
"He's been on an AFL list, he's played at the highest level and his discipline and the way he conducts himself on and off the field is excellent.

"Already, after a short period of time and playing one practice match, he has enormous respect at our club.
"Hopefully he'll take over and drive our club forward for a long time."
Cresswell will be out of contract at the end of next season but he plans to stick around to ensure a smooth transition.
"What I won't do is stand in the way of a young coach coming through. I've got one at my footy club and it's Jamason Daniels," he said.
"I think he's going to be a super leader and I'll be there to help him if it falls that way and he wants to do it.
"I'll be around the area for three or four more years yet and still be heavily involved at the Wangaratta Rovers Football Club because it's a super place to be.
"Next year I'll certainly be coaching and then we'll wait and see how it goes.
"I'm a great believer in personal development and this young man has got it all."
