The 30-year-old has remained behinds bail refused ever since he fled police in the early hours of April 24, with a curved knife stashed in his car.
The officers drew their firearms at the sight of Daniel Paul Franco reaching down for something in the car.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Franco, whose address on court papers was listed as the Albury police station, has pleaded guilty to police pursuit and a second offence of disqualified driving, along with custody of a knife in a public place.
Franco was disqualified from driving, Albury Local Court has heard, until June 19, 2036.
The court was told that Franco had been living out of his car at the time and had "a history of failing to appear in court".
Police were at the scene of a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Ryan Road, Watson Street and Burrows Road just after midnight when they saw Franco's car to the south.
Franco did a U-turn and was then seen heading west on Hodge Street.
He did another U-turn on Tenbrink Street and headed back towards police.
The Albury Highway Patrol officers turned on their car's lights and sirens and followed Franco for 300 metres before he turned on to Ryan Road.
Police said Franco accelerated to 80km/h before turning of his car's headlights.
He then crashed into the concrete median strip on the roundabout at the intersection with Burrows Road and Watson Street.
The car got stuck on grasses in the middle of the roundabout, though this didn't deter Franco.
He tried, without success, to dislodge the car by repeatedly shifting into drive then reverse.
The officers got out and approached either side of Franco's car, ordering him to turn off the ignition.
But he ignored them, continuing to rev the engine as he tried to drive away.
"The accused was seen to reach down in between the front seats and police have drawn their firearms," police said.
"The driver still failed to comply and police have smashed the driver's window, opened his door and had to forcibly remove him from the driver's seat and turn the car off."
Franco identified himself immediately, with police checks then revealing that he was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants.
Police searched the car and found a scabbard containing the 20-centimetre knife.
