The TDFL club has been drawing solid numbers since it took up the option of returning to training three weeks ago.
"Some of our topliners aren't training but we are getting around 20 most nights," Surrey said.
"At times we have battled to get that many in previous years when we are playing.
"It's been good.
"We are just trying to keep some interest going until a decision on the season is made."
Most TDFL clubs are training including Tallangatta, Kiewa-Sandy Creek, Chiltern, Dederang-Mt Breauty, Yackandandah and Thurgoona.
"We have had a really good buy in," Hawk coach Adam Mudra said.
"They boys were keen to get back into some element of football even without the promise of playing."
