ANY Australian who believes in the integrity of our democracy and parliaments would feel appalled at the behaviour of now disgraced former Victorian local government minister Adem Somyurek.

The dumped Labor Party MP was seen on camera allegedly operating wholesale branch stacking and calling Prevention of Family Violence Minister Gabrielle Williams "a stupid, stupid moll" and a "stupid bitch" who he will force out of the ministry.
Mr Somyurek, who denied the branch stacking which is aimed at influencing who has power in Labor parliamentary caucuses, and government in Victoria's case, was yesterday sacked by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews.
The leader had no alternative after the excellent reporting of The Age and 60 Minutes exposed the foul-mouthed Mr Somyurek who boasted on tape he would be running Victoria if Mr Andrews stood down.
IN LIFESTYLE NEWS:
"It's who I say is going to be the f...ing premier," Mr Somyurek was recorded saying.
The hubris on display reflects someone interested in power and party political game playing rather than respectful of his role and duty to serve Victorians.
As Local Government Minister, Mr Somyurek had the power to dismiss councils and mayors relied on him to take their concerns to Cabinet and fellow ministers.
Given his contemptuous behaviour towards Ms Williams and labelling the Ministry for Suburban Development as a "meaningless" portfolio "made up just to make it look like we're interested in the suburbs" you could imagine he would not be really interested in North East life.
When Mr Somyurek visited our region to speak to mayors he did not make himself available for media interviews, as other ministers do, showing his lack of willingness to be engage over concerns in the North East.
Remarkably this is the second time Mr Andrews has axed Mr Somyurek from a ministry, the first in 2015 over bullying claims.
This shows he did not deserve a second chance and Mr Andrews needs to clean up the Victorian Labor Party as the police and the state's corruption watchdog investigate Mr Somyurek.
