Straover was formerly trained by Craig Widdison and finished fourth in the City Handicap over the Albury carnival.
Since joining the Duryea stable, the four-year-old had finished runner-up twice before saluting in the $20,000 Benchmark 65 Hcp, (1175m).
Mallyon settled near the tail of the field on the $2 favourite before hooking out to the centre of the track turning for home.
Straover produced a devastating finishing burst to storm to the lead 100m from home and score a runaway win.

Duryea conceded he thought Mallyon may have left his run a fraction late over the sprint trip.
"My heart was in my mouth watching it all unfold," Duryea said.
"Ideally I would have liked for him to go round around in a 1400m race.
"But with the track being a heavy 9 its almost like running 1400m when the its like this.
"I told Jordy (Mallyon) that the horse will be strong late.
"You just have to ride him like its a 1400m race and he will be super hard to beat."
Duryea said he was still learning about the horse.
"I've only had him for three runs," he said.
"So I'm still learning a bit about him.
"He is a big, long-legged bugger and seems to be enjoying his new environment."
Albury Racing Club will hold its next meeting on June 29.
