The city's cinema centre has named that Thursday for reopening following the easing of COVID-19 rules which have seen the complex closed since March.
Owner John Coxhell said there was little point trading before that date, despite cinemas being able to reopen in Victoria from Monday.
"There's no real big product until then (July 30), a lot of the product until then is what we were running when we closed three months ago and some are reruns at a discounted price," Mr Coxhell said.
"We felt it was better to open with fresh titles."
A new non-animated Disney version of Mulan and spy film Tenet, starring Robert Pattinson, will be drawcards in the opening weeks.
Mr Coxhell said movie-goers would notice the closure had not been wasted with work done that would have normally been spread over five years.
"We've had all the seats out, we've had all the carpets done, there's all freshly-painted auditoriums and candy bar," Mr Coxhell said.

Like Mr Coxhell, Ms Davis said it was important new movies were available and she hoped that timeframe would cater to their release.
Cinemas are not officially allowed to reopen in NSW until July 1 as part of the easing of restrictions.
Extra measures to cater to social distancing and hygiene will be adopted by both moviehouses.
However, Mr Coxhell said he did not believe that would result in great inconvenience for those wanting to access sessions.
"The cinema is rarely full unless there are blockbusters and school holidays, so we think we should be pretty right," he said.
Before July 30, the tenpin bowling lanes, which are in the cinema hub, will be open for play again.
Mr Coxhell said they would be ready to use from next Friday night, June 26.
A limit of 20 adults and unlimited children currently applies but Mr Coxhell noted that number may be increased before opening as restrictions are revised.
Wodonga's tenpin bowl is to reopen in the week of June 29 after a revamp with new new lane bumpers installed and its exterior repainted.
