With coronavirus restrictions continuing to be eased across the state, Geppert said there is still time to get a meaningful competition off the ground.
Hume was the first league in the region to call off its premiership season in May after clubs voted 9-3 against playing into October.
Osborne and Lockhart remain desperate to play with the northern clubs being targeted for recruits by the Riverina and Farrer competitions.
It is believed the Demons have been canvassing support to play in recent days.
"We would always encourage leagues to play as much footy as possible and that goes right across the board from juniors to seniors and male to female," Geppert said.
"The Hume league will follow a process now that there is more information available to clubs around restrictions and huge financial savings.
"They have a board meeting on Wednesday night where no doubt they will make a final recommendation in regards to senior football.
"I'm sure they will make a decision that is best for all involved in the Hume league community.
"I'm comfortable with whatever that decision is.
"Brendan (I'Anson) and his board has done a great job to date managing the expectations of so many people."
Osborne held a meeting on Thursday night with the Tigers ramping up discussions about switching to the Riverina league.
Club president Jason Gooden said the Tigers were seeking more clarity from the Hume league before deciding its next move.
"We will wait on the outcome of the Hume football league board meeting next week," Gooden said.
"Our players are still really keen to play and we are supporting them."
Geppert attended a Hume league meeting at Walbundrie on Wednesday night where the competition decided to kick-off its junior competition on July 18.
He believes there is still time to play senior football.
"Most clubs across the state have said that a two or three week training block with physical contact is all they need," he said.
"Taking into account that practice games can be played after July 1."
