Andre McKechnie killed millionaire property developer Otto Kuhne in Queensland in December 1994.
He received a life sentence with a 15-year minimum, and was living in the North East on parole when he was allegedly caught with the pornography on his computer in September 2016.
He remains in custody and faces three counts of possessing child pornography and a count of breaching his parole conditions.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The case has had a lengthy history of delays and adjournments, with McKechnie recently taking the matter all the way to the Supreme Court for judicial review.
Justice Anthony Cavanough described his application as "hopeless" with no substance to his complaints.
"It is misconceived," he said.
"It is dismissed."
The two matters will return to the Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Monday for mention.
