THE Upper Murray Football Netball League season has followed the lead of neighbouring competitions by cancelling its season.
During a meeting on Thursday night, club officials had no hesitation abandoning the senior and junior grades.
"As communities, the Upper Murray has experienced the severe impacts of the bushfires and to play this year would have been a challenge regardless," league president Gordon Nicholas said.
The Tallangatta and District and Ovens and Murray leagues have also called off their seasons in the last 24 hours.
Five clubs were set to play this year following Border-Walwa's decision to go into recess and the landscape could look even more different next year.
