An impassioned plea for better facilities on Hunchback Hill for Wodonga's growing mountain bike community in the short-term has largely been ignored with Wodonga Council making no changes to its draft budget.

But the closest the sport, which claims to have 100 active racers and a further 1000 recreational riders locally, came to achieving improvements was council staff investigate toilets within the Hunchback Hill area either on Department of Environment, Land and Water or council land.
Cr Kat Bennett gained support from all councillors except Cr Libby Hall in having the extra item added to the recommended motion not to make any budget adjustments on Monday night.
Cr Ron Mildren didn't take part in the vote relating to budget submissions due to a conflict with another budget submission relating to Wodonga Senior Secondary College.

"The findings might come back that the best option for amenities up there might be on crown land," Cr Bennett said.
"If that was the case it would be council's role to advocate to DELWP on behalf of our community.
"This is our responsibility because we have so clearly and loudly heard from our community through this process and through many years of this process that it is a priority for amenities to be up there.
"It is a very well established fact that a lack of amenities such as toilets is a barrier for female participation in all the recreation and organised sport that happens up there."
Once the investigations are carried out funding for a toilet will be considered as budget variation or part of a future budget.
