Benalla's indoor pool, council building and senior citizens centre will all be upgraded after the council received $1 million from the federal government's drought community program.

Benalla Council will use the money to convert the Benalla Livestock Saleyards to holding yards, construct a new outdoor basketball court on the Lake Benalla foreshore, upgrade electrical boards in two council buildings and modify the Senior Citizens Community Centre floorplan.
In addition, the money will fund upgrades to Benalla's indoor swimming pool, including the replacement of the shell liner and repairs to tiling.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Amenities in Benalla, Swanpool and Boweya will be upgraded while an additional exterior public toilet will be built and the toilets at the Visitor Information Centre will be reconfigured.
The council will also develop an adverse events plan and establish a community grants based funding scheme for rural communities to deliver upgrade facilities.
