The announcement of the NSW border closure was the final straw for members, with the requirement of permits to enter NSW proving too much for many to commit to playing.
Hockey Albury-Wodonga will now work towards an extended twilight competition and the Border indoor competition, likely to commence in September.

Further work will be undertaken on an open invitation, casual, informal hit-out during the week, which could also commence later in the year.
"It is very disappointing for the many club executives, committee members coaches and players, Hockey Albury-Wodonga president Bert Eastoe said.
The Hockey ACT Capital League competition starts this weekend in Canberra and the Albury-Wodonga Spitfires will look for first round success away to ANU.
