The couple, who were married locally in early March, decided to stay when the coronavirus pandemic broke out and have been working remotely in their respective IT and legal jobs.
They moved in with Hayley's parents, Graeme and Julie Chester, who live nearby the John Foord Bridge.
"It was when it all blew up and we haven't gone back," Mr Marks said.
"We're quite happy to be here to be honest, we don't want to go back to Melbourne at this point in time."
