The association has planned to run an 18 week season with two weeks of finals for youngsters commencing on Monday, July 13.

Under Basketball Victoria's current COVID-19 guidelines full contact training and competition is possible for players under-18, while players 19 and above are awaiting approval from the Department of Health and Human Services to resume play from July 20.

Wodonga Basketball Association's Kelly Roffey said she's confident juniors will be able to return.

"We were nervous with the announcements at the start of the week, but we're confident we've got the measures in place," she said.

"Our number one priority is about participation and looking after the health and wellbeing of everyone involved.

"We see it as really important in getting back on the court to give kids and parents an outlet.

"Looking after the mental wellbeing of our kids and parents is paramount and we see that by doing physical activity it has a range of benefits for that."

The association will be reliant on a number of volunteers to make sure all the required social distancing measures are in place.

The junior representative basketball committee is also committed to engaging kids this season, while the Country Basketball League are looking at an October start date at this stage.

It comes following the Big V's decision to abandon their 2020 season.
