Albury's Regent Cinemas are yet to lock in their July return date, but it won't be this Thursday as predicted last month.
Wangaratta Cinema Centre is still planning to welcome movie goers on July 30 despite a tightening of COVID-19 restrictions in other parts of Victoria.
It comes almost four months since restrictions saw the movie theatres close.
"We don't know if that will change, but at the moment everything looks right for the 30th," Wangaratta cinema owner John Coxhell said.

"Because the ten-pin bowling is already open a lot of people are saying they can't wait to get back, which is really nice.
"We're really excited, but we want everyone to be well and safe.
"As the day gets closer we'll have our fingers crossed."
Regent Cinemas general manager Kelly Davis said the picture should become clearer for Albury next week.
Mr Coxhell said there was a number of big titles set to roll out from the opening date.
A Disney live action remake of Mulan is highly anticipated, as well Christopher Nolan's new film Tenet.
A special 10th anniversary nod to Nolan's Inception is also expected to be one of the first films to hit the big screen.
Mr Coxhell said while many great films had been recently made, the pandemic had seen them shelved for the time being.
"Within a week or two after there's a full slate coming through," Mr Coxhell said.
