The member for Euroa was to begin her maternity break after finishing work on Friday.
Ms Ryan could not say how much leave she would take.
"I'm just going to see how I go," the 34 year-old deputy Nationals leader said.
"It's my first so I just want to see how it pans out.

Ms Ryan's Benalla office is open three days a week, following a closure during the coronavirus lockdown.
However, staff remain available via phone or email across Monday to Friday.
Nationals leader Peter Walsh will take on Ms Ryan's shadow portfolios of water, regional transport and liquor and gaming.
Ms Ryan and her husband Simon Huggins do not know the gender of their child.
"I haven't been too stressed about it, with these things you've got to take them as they come," Ms Ryan said.
"It's probably the biggest thing you do in life and I'm looking forward to it, it's a new chapter, it's exciting."
