A nearby resident said the father and husband had been flung into the ground while working with two colleagues, and described it as a "tragic accident".
A spokeswoman for SafeWork NSW said the matter was still being examined.
IN OTHER NEWS:
No charges have been laid.
"SafeWork NSW is currently investigating a matter concerning an Albury arborist who died while undertaking tree work last year," the spokeswoman said.
"No further comment can be made at this time."
Police, the coroner and the work authority have been involved in the investigation.
