Senior Meteorologist Tom Delamotte said a rigid high pressure system sitting above Victoria had resulted in relatively stable weather across the week.
He said the system had brought cold nights and mornings especially through northern and western Victoria.
In Rutherglen the temperature dropped to a frosty -2.7 on Friday morning.
Mr Delamotte said Saturday would be dry and relatively cool across the state.
Albury-Wodonga residents can expect a foggy morning with a light frost and a minimum of zero degrees.
IN OTHER NEWS:
While at Mount Hotham temperatures could drop as low as -5 degrees, with at maximum of two degrees forecast.
At Falls Creek a low of -4 degrees was forecast for Saturday and a high of three.
Mr Delamotte said a front would move across the region on Sunday bringing showers.
He said 15 mm could fall in the North East ranges, and snow was expected in the alpine areas.
Broadly, about five mm could be expected in the wider region. There's a 70 per cent change it will rain in Albury-Wodonga on Sunday.
Mr Delamotte said the change could potentially bring strong winds to the alpine area.
"It's certainly going to take a turn for a proper wintry day as we move into Sunday," he said. Cool days are forecast to continue next week with Albury expected to reach an overnight low of zero degrees on Tuesday.
