In a huge boost to the Lions' flag chances, Murray will join his brothers Nick and Toby at the club where he started his football career.
The midfielder, who is in isolation, will miss Saturday's season opener before playing in round two against Wagga Tigers.
Murray moved back to the region after Williamstown's VFL season was abandoned due to coronavirus.
Ganmain coach Christin Macri said the club and Murray were determined to ensure everything is done right.
"He won't play this week, he'll play next week," Macri said.
"He got up here on Tuesday, he's in isolation in Henty, doing what he needs to do there for two weeks.
"He had a permit through his work that he could come straight over but we still decided, along with Sam, that we would all do the right thing and do the two weeks isolation."
Nick, who was also set to play in the VFL this season, was one of Ganmain's best in the trial win over Osborne earlier in the month and will provide the Lions with another key forward option.
