Police have allegedly recovered ice after a speeding driver crashed his car on the Hume Freeway early Monday morning after trying to evade officers.
The man allegedly reached about 160km/h after coming to police attention near Winton about 2.30am.
Police engaged in multiple pursuits in a bid to stop the car.
The driver continued northbound and lost control of the vehicle after swerving to miss an animal.
The car hit wire rope barriers at North Wangaratta and the man was arrested.

The vehicle allegedly contained about 18 grams of methamphetamine.
The accused man, Alexander Brown, is facing a string of charges over the incident including car theft, drug trafficking, dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, and failure to stop.
Police are investigating whether Brown, who has family in Wodonga, will also face fines for COVID-19 breaches.
He did not apply for bail and will return to court next Monday.
