"I think it's a no-brainer," he said.
"If you go into 50-over cricket straight away a lot of the guys might go, 'not sure about it', it might be too much for them, but if you start with the shorter format that goes for only three hours, it's a lot more appealing.
"If you have 50 footballers that have a hit, you might keep five, maybe 10 and that's almost another side."
Given football's dominance, it's often difficult for talented cricketers to find the time with Brown missing a chunk of his 20s while focused on football with North Albury.
