A man with a long history of serious mental health issues has been granted bail over allegations he attacked several people in Albury's CBD.

After his arrest, Cody Smith spent almost three weeks as an involuntary patient of Albury hospital's mental health unit.
Albury Local Court has heard Smith's condition stabilised in Nolan House, where the 30-year-old resumed his monthly depot injections.

"I appreciate that so much," Smith told magistrate Richard Funston on being granted bail.
Defence lawyer Camille McKay said Smith's mental health issues were first diagnosed in childhood.
Smith faces four assault occasioning actual bodily harm charges over the incident in Dean Street on July 5.
It is alleged that two doctors were kicked by Smith after trying to help another man who police claim was attacked at random by the accused.
Smith was in a "highly agitated" state.
It is alleged he punched a 78-year-old man in the face before throwing him to the ground.
That caused the victim to hit his head on a street pole as he fell to the ground, near City Walk Arcade.
That came after police claim Smith struck a man in the face outside a nearby jewellers.
Smith is accused of punching one of the doctors in the stomach and having kicked both to the head.
Two people were treated at Albury hospital for facial injuries.
Smith was arrested near the Albury LibraryMuseum.
"He was clearly ... particularly unwell at the time," Ms McKay said. "He is now stable on his medication."
Smith also faces two unrelated sets of charges, including counts of destroy property, use offensive weapon to prevent detention, shoplifting and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
In granting bail, Mr Funston ordered Smith to attend Albury Community Mental Health Service for treatment, to not drink or take drugs unless prescribed and to submit to drug and alcohol testing.
All charges were adjourned to August 18.
