Emergency services were called when the Robinson R44 helicopter, which was conducting spraying, struck power lines at Conargo about 11am on Friday.
The male pilot was treated and taken to hospital with initial reports he was trapped.
A spokesman for the Australian Transport Safety Bureau said investigators from Canberrra would attend the scene.
"On site, investigators will examine the helicopter wreckage and site surrounds," the spokesman said.
"The ATSB will also analyse available recorded data, review records, and interview involved parties."
A report will be prepared at the end of the investigation.
EARLIER: Emergency services are on the scene of a helicopter crash at Conargo, near Deniliquin.
Police were called to a property on Carrathool Road about 11am on Friday after the incident was reported.
The helicopter hit a power line before crashing.
A pilot is believed to be trapped inside.
