The skilled defender had been in mandatory quarantine for two weeks prior to taking to the court on Sunday for the Vixen's 11 goal win against the Collingwood Magpies at Brisbane's Nissan Stadium.
Newton was called upon for the newly introduced 'super shot' during the last five minutes of the quarter in round one of the Suncorp Super Netball competition.
"It was short but sweet," she said.
"Obviously it's very early days so I was happy with what I got, but it depends on what the team needs.
"I'll fill any role I can."
Both Melbourne based clubs had been forced to quarantine prior to the match after relocating to Queensland due to growing COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria.

No crowd was permitted at the game.
"Now that's done hopefully we get a few people in the crowd and a bit more normality for game day," she said.
"It (quarantine) was long but we were very well taken care of so that made it a lot easier.
"We do feel bad for all of our Victorians back home, so hopefully we give them something else to think about here in Queensland."
The Wodonga export now goes into a hub with her fellow Vixen teammates with all games so far scheduled to be played in the Sunshine State.
"Most of our home games are in Brisbane at this stage, but what the fixture looks like long term we're not sure," she said.
Newton has been a training partner with the Vixens for three years and captained Victoria Fury to an Australian Netball League flag last year.
The Vixens now prepare to take on the Queensland Firebirds for round two before backing it up for a game next Wednesday against the Sunshine Coast Lightning in what is a condensed season.
Newton hopes to be back out on court again soon.
