After kicking the opening two goals of the match, the more experienced Lions wore their opponents down to win 7.10 (52) to 4.2 (26) and show why they are one of the teams to beat for the AFL Riverina Championship.

Osborne were brave in defeat, with Elliot Powell a constant threat around the packs, while Will Ryan and Ed Perryman did well in defence in the slippery conditions.

Osborne coach Joel Mackie said his team needed to put together four quarters before it could match the top sides.

"We came out well, but just couldn't sustain it," Mackie said.

"It's a good competition and we need to get better across the board if we're going to challenge these sides.

"I thought it was an improvement on last week, but we still have a lot of work to do."
