Northern Victoria MP Tania Maxwell has implored the NSW government to "exercise compassion" and allow locals to access permits to care for terminally ill family members.

Using the example of Bullioh woman Marg Docking who has terminal cancer and cannot see her family, Ms Maxwell labelled the restrictions "cruel".
Ms Docking lives in Towong Shire where there are zero active or reported cases of coronavirus.
Her only wish is to spend as much quality time with her children, two are in Albury, one in Queensland and one in Melbourne.

Ms Maxwell said the restrictions are denying Ms Docking her quality of life and "serving absolutely no purpose other than to deliver misery to a family already under enormous stress".
"There have been zero cases in Towong Shire and to deny Ms Docking and her family time together during her illness is beyond cruel," she said.
"Restricting family visits until people were in their last days of life was beyond heartless.
"Ms Docking and other people in similar circumstances needed the support of their family immediately and ongoing.
"The border restrictions are impacting residents in very personal and traumatic ways, completely disproportionate to the risk."
