The club informed playing coach Luke Morgan on Tuesday night it wanted a non-playing coach so it could fit under the proposed salary cap reduction for 2021.
Fifty per cent of a playing coach's wage (up to $20,000) comes under the cap, but a non-playing coach is totally outside the cap.
"We expect in the current environment we should have a number of strong applicants," president Tony Goodison said.
Speculation has already started that former Northern Blues' coach and Murray Bushrangers' product Josh Fraser, Collingwood contracted player Ben Reid and 2017 premiership coach Dean Stone are in the mix.
