Murray River Police District said they arrested a 24-year-old man on Saturday afternoon after he crossed from Victoria into NSW along the Albury railway bridge.

"It will be alleged the male had no authority to enter NSW, and was in possession of a prohibited weapon," a police statement said.

IN OTHER NEWS:

"He was charged with a number of offences including breach of border control restrictions and refused bail.

"All border crossings continue to be closely monitored.

"We thank the local community for your continued support and encourage all members of the public to continue to report criminal activity and COVID-19."

This comes after another man was arrested trying to cross into NSW at the Corowa checkpoint in an unregistered vehicle and in possession of the drug ice.
