Regent Cinemas Albury will reopen on Thursday after being forced to closed its doors in March due to the pandemic.
And the team has been busy with a multi-million dollar refurbishment.
Manager Kelly Davis said stage one had been completed in the five months they had been closed.
"Stage one of this has upgraded the much-loved landmark cinema complex to offer a world-class experience for all guests," she said.
"It has seen the completion of the re-seating of six cinemas featuring premium glide chairs, the construction of a new candy bar including the Regent Bar to serve eight licensed cinemas and a range of hot food offerings for all patrons.
"A junior cinema has been added with special activities for children offering a large range of children's films throughout the year."
The external facade was also repainted during lockdown. Movie-lovers are urged to book online for when the cinema opens, with strict COVID-safe guidelines.
"It has been a few years in the process to be honest," Ms Davis said. "It has taken a lot to figure out how and when to do these upgrades and this happened so we just went with it.
"The most exciting thing is to open the doors finally to customers and be able to show some pretty exciting new releases as well as some retro titles. There are sanitising stations throughout the buildings as well as strict social distancing guidelines to follow so some of our cinemas only have a capacity of 38 people."
Stage two of the refurbishment will include upgrades to the heritage auditorium and foyers as well as the long-awaited upgrade of cinema one.
"That the the most asked question we get - 'when are you upgrading the seating in cinema one'," Ms Davis said.
"The answer is not yet, because that is part of the heritage side. There is a larger process to go to through.
"But it is really exciting that all the upgrades we have done are just the beginning.
"Hopefully we will have more to show you all by the end of the year."
The kids cinema will open on September 17 showing Trolls World Tour.
