Buildings that were destroyed or damaged were cleared at 736 properties across East Gippsland and North East Victoria, through the joint federal and state government program.
Federal Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management Minister David Littleproud said he hoped property owners could take "the next steps towards their future plans".
"Clean-up is one of the most challenging aspects of bushfire recovery, with all the hazards associated with asbestos and demolition work and all the trauma that comes with revisiting burnt-out properties," he said.
Victorian Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville said there were more rural and isolated properties than in previous fire clean-up programs, some containing multiple destroyed and damaged, asbestos-ridden structures.
"This was a complex job spread over more than 700 individual sites," she said.
"We said we'd finish up by the end of August and the crews of hardworking locals and experts did such a great job to get us there."
In total, more than 2500 individual structures were removed, including from 183 properties in Towong Shire and five in Alpine Shire.
Grocon, tasked with leading the program, and subcontractor crews completed 370,000 hours, covering up to 60 properties each week.
