Trent Daniel Remington appeared in Albury Local Court on Tuesday for the brief mention of his matters, which went before magistrate Richard Funston.
He was arrested and charged after allegations were made in relation to an incident at a Thurgoona party on Australia Day.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Director of Public Prosecutions representative Brad Godson said two charges were being withdrawn: one of aggravated sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm and one charge of detain a person with the intention of obtaining an advantage.
Remington, 22, will face trial on four counts of sexual intercourse without consent and one of attempted sexual intercourse without consent.
"My client," defence lawyer Mark Cronin said, "is to be committed to the District Court in Albury on a date to be fixed."
Remington will be arraigned on the charges on a list date of October 9.
Mr Funston continued bail for the accused.
Meanwhile, in another case before the court on Tuesday, Mr Godson said an agreement had just been reached with lawyers acting for Sydney man Lawrence Francis Gonzales, 33, who had been facing trial over a $1 million heroin haul uncovered by police north of Albury in July, 2019.
"The matter we have resolved very recently, as recently as yesterday afternoon," Mr Goddard told the court.
But as the agreed set of facts and other paperwork had only just been posted to the court by the DPP, Mr Funston said an adjournment would be necessary.
A committal for sentence, on a charge of supply a prohibited drug at greater than a large commercial quantity, will now go ahead on Tuesday.
