Border controls have led BlazeAid to open a second camp to allow more volunteers to assist in the Upper Murray fire recovery.

A Walwa base was set up in addition to the original Jingellic hub as a way to reduce the number of border crossings and permits needed.
Volunteers from Victorian COVID-free regional areas arrived within days and were soon out on the fence lines.
As well as fencing, BlazeAid is rolling out two new programs in the area.
Fire-affected farmers may be eligible for perennial grass seed to re-establish pastures burned in the summer fires, while the Trillions of Paddock Trees program will be trialled from the Walwa camp next week.
