Wodonga restaurant Miss Amelie co-owner David Kapay said they were preparing for Wednesday's launch of their new business, Miss Amelie Gourmet, in Michael Drive, when they lost power to the site about 8.40am.
Kapay said it was all hands on deck until they secured a generator within about 90 minutes.
"We were treading water for an hour-and-a-half until we got hold of a generator," he said.
"We were starting to hear the outage was really widespread to as far as Geelong and it may need to happen again tomorrow to fix the problem."
Kapay said thankfully the outage was shorter than anticipated and they hadn't lost any stock.
"They power is back on now," Kapay said late Tuesday morning.
"Nothing will stop us: not even a world pandemic!"
IN OTHER NEWS:
Earlier on Tuesday, Wodonga-based Andiamo Street Food co-owner Andrea Burgio said they had fingers crossed the power would be restored before the 1.30pm estimate by AusNet.
He said they had made their dough for baked goods yesterday morning before the power went out.
"All of our ovens are electric," he said.
"Our prep kitchen is in High Street so we couldn't cook."
Wodonga microbakery Miss Naked Cakes remained open for cash sales during the power outage but could not bake on site or offer coffees.
"I think Victoria needs a big fat hug right now," the bakery posted on Facebook.
