OSBORNE bowed out of the A-grade premiership race with a 37-29 loss to Wagga Tigers in the preliminary final at Wagga's Robertson Oval on Saturday.
After clawing its way back to a one-goal deficit at the five-minute-mark of the final term, the Ostriches fell away late as Wagga Tigers found another gear.
Sally Hunter and Sara Schneider were outstanding in defence for Osborne with the pair winning several telling intercepts.
Coach Liza Gooden said the match was closer than the final score indicated.
"The girls never gave up," Gooden said.
"We were a real chance in the last quarter but Wagga Tigers finished a little bit better.
"While it's very disappointing to miss out on the grand final, the girls have had a great season and I think we've come a long way as a side."
Wagga Tigers will play MCUE in next weekend's grand final with little expected to separate the teams.
Osborne will be represented on grand final day by its B grade and under-17 teams.
The club's under 16s took out the Hume league premiership at Walbundrie last season.
