The former AFL livewire, who moved to the region before coronavirus wiped out the Ovens and Murray season, committed to the Tigers late last week.
Garlett has secured an Aboriginal mentoring role at Xavier High School.
Co-coach Luke Daly said Garlett had made a big impression since moving to the Border.
"Jeff moved here in pretty tough circumstances with coronavirus but he's fitted into the community really well," Daly said.
"He loves the lifestyle here.
"It's fantastic to have him commit for another three seasons."
Garlett played 107 matches for Carlton and 78 for Melbourne before being delisted by the Demons at the end of last season.
Originally from Swan Districts, Garlett topped Carlton's goalkicking in 2013 and Melbourne's in 2017.
The 31-year-old played for Southern Districts before arriving at Albury Sportsground.
The Tigers are unlikely to suffer any major departures for next season and hope to add one or two recruits.
