And there is a possibility the outdoor and indoor pools being built will be named after people who have made significant contributions to swimming in the area with two names already put forward.
They are Gordon Poidevin, who played a significant in the original Corowa pool being built, and long-time coach, Graeme Phipps.
The pool naming sparked heated debate at a July meeting when some councillors pushed for Federation to be included.
But deputy mayor Shaun Whitechurch said Corowa Aquatic Centre ultimately had widespread support.
"It was heavily discussed the options which were put up," he said.
"It was quite resounding in the end that Corowa Aquatic Centre was chosen."

Honour boards will be erected and displayed inside the facility when it is officially opened with council to continue working with the Corowa Swimming Pool Advisory Committee on those named on the honour board and the potential naming of the two two pools.
"They were insistent as a committee that the honour boards be erected at the opening of the pool," Cr Whitechurch said.
"It's not just the people involved at council, but people worthy of being acknowledged over the last 60 years."
At a minimum, Mr Poidevin and Mr Phipps will be included on the honour board.
Mr Poidevin was also a World War II veteran, who died in 2005, and is the father of former long-serving Corowa mayor Gary Poidevin.
Mayor Pat Bourke said the aquatic centre was on track to be completed in March.
"It is state of the art and a really amazing project," he said.
"You can actually visualise now what it will look like when completed."
The council approved the final plans for the aquatic centre last year and Hines Construction awarded the design and construction tender 11 months ago.
The facility will include an indoor heated learn to swim program pool with 3 x 25 metre practice lanes, a dedicated learn to swim area, reception and cafe area, amenities blocks, plant rooms, outdoor splash pad and competition standard eight lane, 50 metre pool.
Meanwhile, Cr Whitechurch was re-elected deputy mayor unopposed yesterday.
The Corowa-based councillor has been deputy mayor since Federation Council began in 2017 with Cr Bourke also occupying the top job since its inception.
Corowa residents are heading into a third successive summer without a pool after unexpected delays in the project's final approval earlier this year.
