The 19-year-old will contest the state preliminary finals of national beauty pageant Miss World Australia this month for a chance to be selected as Victoria's representative.
But the contest will have a different look this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with finalists to record themselves performing a runway walk and answering questions from home to then be streamed online.
This is the first time Miss Singh has ever competed in a beauty contest and admitted she was not sure what to expect.
"I wasn't expecting anything and didn't hear back for months, then I did," she said.
"I really wasn't expecting anything from it, so I was shocked.
"My mum (Clare) is a photographer, so I've just modeled for her and her friends have used me in photo shoots."
After completing year 12 at Wodonga's Catholic College last year, Miss Singh had planned to move to Melbourne for university in 2020.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Studying a bachelor of health science, majoring in biomedical science and neuroscience, she was only several weeks into classes at Swinburne University before the pandemic saw her return home to continue her studies online.
She now hopes to one day become a sonographer.
Miss Singh said the new way of learning had been a challenge.
"It's very hard, I lost a lot of motivation at the start," she said.
"With musculoskeletal anatomy it's really hard learning that without the devices Swinburne has."
The Miss Victoria competition will see her asked what she has learnt from the COVID lockdown, as well as a fun fact about herself.
She's already got her answer ready for that one, being a keen dog foster carer.
The entrant crowned Miss Victoria will be announced following the stream and will advance to the national stage, where they will then have their hat in the ring to represent Australia and take on the world.
Miss Singh said she'd be delighted if she happened to hear her name called.
"I would be thrilled because I never thought I'd get through to this stage," she said.
"I guess we'll just have to wait and see."
All contestants this year are raising money for children's charity Variety, with Miss Singh's donation link available online.
