Boulton set a new Australian record in the 400m at last year's national meet in Perth and would have been among the favourites in Melbourne in December.
Athletics Australia have abandoned a total of eight events, including titles for marathon, half marathon, road racing, cross country and race walking.

The National Nitro final has also been called off, along with the Australia vs New Zealand match.
"We've strongly considered the logistical and movement restrictions in place with particular regard to state and territory border closures, which makes these national championship events inaccessible to all," Athletics Australia CEO Darren Gocher said.
Planning continues for the 2021 summer season.
