The Southern NSW AFLW team is heading into their third year in the competition and usually includes netballers from Hume league clubs Osborne and Lockhart.

But the club is now widening it's search in the hopes of including other Hume league players looking for a run around in the off-season.

Osborne was the only club in the league to play football and netball this year after joining the AFL Riverina Championships, following the Hume league's decision to pull the pin due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bluebells' team manager Dee Wolter is hoping those who missed out this year might want to join them on the field in 2021.

"With the current covid situation, any surrounding teams are welcome if there's anyone who wants to join in," Wolter said.

"It's a bit of fitness in the off-season and gives them something to do.

"We're hoping for more players to come and have some fun."

The competition commences during the middle of February and runs until late March.

The team has a wide age range, with young players having to be turning 17 at some point during 2021 to qualify for a spot.

A new coach has also been appointed for the season, with Mark Hyde stepping up from assistant coach to take on the role.

The Bluebells missed their last game of the season this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wolter said returning players are itching to get back out there.

"It's all about having fun and giving the girls something to do while we wait," she said.

"It gives them something to look forward to."

The club is also emphasising the importance of mental health, in what has been a challenging year for everyone.

The team usually hosts the Riverina Bluebells to start the conversation.

"They come in every year and have a chat about mental health," Wolter said.

"With covid, I'd like the girls to think it's a safe space.

"They can come to us and they've got a group they can turn to.

"If someone's having a bad day, it's ok."
